Conscryption: conscryption.com and the Conscryption apps for iOS and Android. Updated 18 October 2026.
What the apps send
When you encode or decode, the app sends the text, the script you picked and any key to the Conscryption translator at conscryption.com. This includes the coded text that the Read tab reads from a picture. The translator sends back the result and does not save the text. The pictures themselves are read on your device and are not sent anywhere. The apps have no ads and no tracking, and they need no account.
The iOS app reads the text in a picture with Apple's Vision framework on the device. On Android, reading text from a picture is optional and off until you turn it on in the app. It uses Google ML Kit on the device, and ML Kit sends Google technical data for diagnostics and usage analytics: device and app information, an installation identifier, performance figures, settings and error codes. Google's list of this data does not include the pictures (ML Kit data disclosure). Reading glyphs (the fandom scripts) does not use ML Kit.
What the website keeps
- Essential cookies:
session_id(your session),frontend_lang(your language),website_cookies_bar(your cookie choice) andtz(your time zone). There are no advertising cookies. The list with the times is on the cookie page. - Page statistics, only if you click "Allow statistics" in the cookie bar: the pages you viewed with the times, the language, the time zone and the number of visits, under a visitor key made from your IP address, browser and session. No location. The record of a visitor who is not signed in and has not come back for 60 days is deleted automatically. If you do not allow statistics, nothing is recorded.
- Forum: if you sign up, your name, e-mail address (optional) and posts. Announcements: if you subscribe, your e-mail address. Announcement e-mails have no open or click tracking.
- Pictures: a picture that you upload to the translator to decode is read in memory and is not kept.
- Reply page: if you use a private reply page, what you type is kept with a one-way code made from your internet address that limits how often the form can be sent. Only the person you reply to reads it.
- Server logs: errors only. The web servers do not write visitor IP addresses or the pages you open to their logs. The translator does not keep the text that you translate.
- Fonts and scripts: all come from conscryption.com. Your browser does not connect to Google or other outside services when you read the site. The blog, forum and announcements in the apps are the same web pages.
